Privacy Policy

Viaje ("Viaje," "we," "us," or "our") makes a travel-planning app that helps you keep an entire trip — bookings, itinerary, travelers, and documents — organised in one place. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices. We built Viaje to be your private home base for a trip, and we treat your data that way.

Information we collect

Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address and your first name. Authentication is handled by our backend provider, Supabase.

Trip content you create. Anything you add to a trip: destinations, dates, itinerary activities, flights, hotels, notes, and the names and (optional) ages of the travelers you add. If you add family members — including children — you're providing that information yourself; Viaje is a general-audience app and is not directed to children.

Uploads. Booking confirmation screenshots, documents, and photos you attach to a trip, and an optional profile photo. These are stored privately and are only accessible to you and the people you explicitly share a trip with.

Location (only if you allow it). On the trip map, if you grant permission, we use your device's location to show a "you are here" dot. This is used live on your device and is not stored on our servers or tracked over time. You can decline or revoke it anytime in your device settings.

Usage and device data. Basic technical data needed to run the app (e.g., crash and performance information). We do not sell your data or use third-party advertising trackers.

How we use your information

To provide the core service: storing and displaying your trips across your devices and to people you share a trip with.
To power the "import a booking" feature: when you snap or upload a confirmation, the image and its text are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to extract the details and file them into your trip.
To show relevant content: destination photos and weather for your trip location.
To operate, secure, and improve the app.

Third-party services we use

Supabase — secure backend: account authentication, database, and private file storage.
Anthropic (Claude) — AI that reads your uploaded booking confirmations to extract details. Images/text sent for this purpose are processed to return a result and are not used to train models.
Apple — app distribution and, if you subscribe, payment processing (we never see your card details).
Pexels and Open-Meteo — destination photos and weather (queried by city name; no personal data sent).
Google Maps / Apple Maps — to display the trip map.

Sharing

We share trip content only with people you invite to that trip. We do not sell personal information. We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the rights and safety of our users and the service.

Data retention and deletion

Your data is kept as long as your account is active. You can delete your account and all associated data from within the app (or by emailing us). Deleting a trip permanently removes its itinerary, documents, and bookings.

Security

We take the security of your information seriously and rely on established infrastructure to protect it:

Encryption in transit and at rest. Your data travels over encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections and is stored by our backend provider (Supabase) on access-controlled, encrypted systems.
Access controls. Trip content and uploaded documents are kept in private storage and protected by access rules so they're reachable only by your account and the people you've invited to a trip.
Data minimization. We don't collect payment card numbers (Apple handles payments), and we don't ask for government IDs, Social Security numbers, or financial-account numbers.

No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You use the app understanding this, and — as noted in our Terms — we encourage you to keep your own copies of important bookings and confirmations.

If a data breach affects your personal information, we will notify you and any relevant authorities as required by applicable law, without undue delay, and take reasonable steps to investigate and address it. To help protect your account, please use a strong, unique password and keep your device secure.

Your choices

Edit or delete your name, photo, trips, and documents anytime in the app.
Grant or revoke camera, photo, and location permissions in your device settings.
Delete your account to remove your data.

Children

Viaje is intended for adults planning trips. It is not directed to children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information directly from children. Traveler details you enter (including a child's first name or age) are provided by you, the account holder, to organise your own trip.

Changes

We may update this policy; we'll revise the "Last updated" date and, for material changes, notify you in the app.
